    Crystalline solar cell technology is a mature technology and has been used for over 50 years with predictable performance and reliability also in extreme environments such as space, deserts, arctic, or hot and humid climate conditions, as in India.
     
    SunPower panels perform better at high temperatures than others. Because they're more efficient at converting light into electricity (and not heat), the hotter it gets outside, the better they perform compared to the competition.

    SunPower modules have been shown by third-party testing* to degrade at -0.1%/year, although SunPower recommends a more conservative -0.25%/year for economic calculations, while major thin film panels show an average of -1.5%/year of degradation.

    The degradation rate of standard cells has been well documented over several years while thin film is a relatively new technology, with less than 10 years of manufacturing and field experience: thin film degradation is not yet well understood.
